Anybody Out There?
you know what you're getting with Marian Keyes - it's undemanding, but enjoyable. I love them, even though I know it's wrong; I blame the Irish family bits, because I knew so many people like that in my childhood.
this one covers yet another of the Walsh girls, Anna. The story opens with her at home, fairly badly injured; she soon returns to New York, where she lives with her husband Aidan, who has mysteriously vanished. She e-mails him, and leaves messages, but he's nowhere to be found. Eventually the story fills out, and it's a sad one.
Anybody Out There? tells the story of Dubliner Anna, the fourth of five Walsh sisters, the family readers have come to know and love in Watermelon, Rachel’s Holiday and Angels. We are also introduced to the life of the other Walsh sister Helen, who’s job as a private investigator sees her hiding in bushes and getting caught up in the Dublin criminal underworld – with hilarious consequences!
Marian Keyes outsold all British or Irish authors last year, a testament to the popularity of her writing style. Marian’s new novel Anybody Out There? is part-suspense novel, part-comedy and part-tragedy, but fully enthralling!
