Went to make a cup of tea, and we have a dead kettle.
That’s a bit of a bugger.
p.s. before you ask, no, it’s not the fuse.

Bummer 🙁
Spoon in mug and microwave?
[shudder]
I resorted to boiling water in a pan. I shall sally forth to Currys after I’ve finished work.
Tescos is probably cheaper!
You can get a perfectly serviceable basic electric kettle from Tescos for a fiver (or possibly less) … of course if you want a nice stainless steel one .. 🙂
Yes, microwave was something I hadn’t thought about the first time I had a kettle disfunction 🙂 … much like my friends who had their CD player fail and didn’t think that they could use their DVD player to play CDs until they got a new CD player….
I loathe and detest Tesco, and will not buy anything there on principle. Quite aside from that, there isn’t a large Tesco within quick and easy access from here.
Fair enough, sorry that I didn’t realise your aversion/antipathy towards the big T … does that extend to other supermarkets or the T-store in particular?
How about Argos? Asda? Sainsburys? Or even supporting Woolworths in what appears to be their last Christmas?
Personally I dislike Currys more than Tesco, but that’s me … I’ve had a few good experiences at a DSG store and more bad ones …
I hate all supermarkets, but reserve a special level of loathing for Tesco 🙂
I live in a village, and need to go somewhere that I can get to easily – that leaves me Sainsburys and Currys, before I have to go to a Maul [shudder].
/giggle Maul, I like it =)
I am also deeply suspicious of cheap electrics after a fire in the kitchen in my student days.
I am actually waiting for my kettle to give up so I can get one of those clever ones that save electricity, or make a cup of tea super fast.
Tesco are by far the worst – except for Asda – in terms of how they treat suppliers; they put Simon’s cousin out of business. they’re worse than Walmart.
We has a spare kettle. Two if you count the camping one that can go on the petrol stove whne the power is out… 🙂
Did you switch it on at the wall?
*ducks*
Saucepans work perfectly well, if a bit slowly, until you get a new one.
How do you dispose of kettles these days? Is there a special kettle skip at the tip?
We need to do a tip run today, so we’ll dump it in the electrics bin there. got out his trusty multimeter [fnaar], and pronounced it dead. The base works, the kettle doesn’t.
We have purchased a new one from Currys.
Dunno about your skip, but our local recycling area has about 40 different skips – each labelled clearly with what sort of stuff you put in it.
But then, our local skip is a London borough, and pretty hot on recycling tech…
