a productive day

  • VAT return done and in the post
  • All suppliers paid up to date
  • Home utility bills paid
  • All business correspondence up to date
  • Business contents insurance renewed

That’s enough work for today, I think.

the three things meme

Post 3 things you’v done that you believe nobody else on your F-list has done:

  1. Been on a nuclear submarine
  2. Run a business with my ex-husband – we started it after we were divorced
  3. Had Russ Conway and Petula Clarke at my christening

Not that exciting really, now I come to review it …

Death Match! – Roomba v Squid

Well, it’s not actually a squid, it’s a sort of pluth mouse with very long legs. We use it to serve the Tribe’s catnip on. I know, I know …

You may note that the Roomba is a tad battered; this is because one day it took it into its head to zoom out of the patio door and hurtle itself down the patio steps. Pete says it was confused by the sunlight, but personally I think it lost the will to live, faced with all that cat fur to vacuum.

Who won? Hard to say. The Roomba made its mournful noise, and Pete went and disentangled them. A dead heat, I reckon.

And so it begins

Thanks to a tip from syllopsium (on IRC – don’t scurry off to his LJ), I have ordered the boxed set of Babylon 5 from Amazon for the princely sum of £78.97.

I’ve never really watched it, and I suspect I will not be a fan, but perlmonger is a huge fan, and it’s for him. Means we can clear dozens of VHS tapes off the top of the bookshelves too :)

Also ordered – West Wing S7. We have one DVD left from S5, so the end is in sight.

for those of you with a Wii Fit …

We were concerned at the huge fluctuations in weight ours was giving us.

We use it on a fairly thick pile rug, so today we went out and bought a piece of ply, and perlmonger drew round the balance board, and jigsaw’d out a little solid platform for it.

We both instantly gained 8 lbs …

So if you’re using yours on a carpet, think on.

hotels booked

Three nights including dinner at Rosleague Manor, near Letterfrack, Galway. We’ve stayed here before, and it’s wonderful, as is the food.

Three nights (including two nights’ dinner) at the Park House Hotel in Galway City. We haven’t stayed in Galway for about ten years, so it’ll be interested to see how it’s changed, and it’s a great base for touring around.

Just need to find somewhere near Shannon Airport for the Friday night, and we’re done.

Phew.

*thank you*, David Davis

Speech is here.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if more MPs did this? – then perhaps we could have a proper debate about the destruction of our civil liberties.

I’m not a natural Conservative, but I admire him tremendously for this.

an unexpected bath

In my unconfined joy at discovering that O2 are at last doing a business tariff for the iPhone, I tipped a large mugful of Earl Grey all over my Tactile Pro keyboard.

Back on the little slimline one while the other dries out – hope it survives …

We bought this patio heater from a friend many years ago – it’s never even had a gas cylinder fitted, never mind been lit.

Such patio heaters are now Bad and Wrong, and we try to be environmentally conscious. We were going to freecycle it, then it struck us that if it’s not eco-friendly for us, it wouldn’t be for anyone else. So perlmonger took it to bits, and he’s taken it to the dump domestic disposal facility this morning
