Shelfari
In preparation for some major changes to my own web site (when I get time, ho ho), I’m importing our book catalogue here into Shelfari.
We have a perfectly serviceable system here what I wrote in ColdFusion, that looks up Amazon’s web service and grabs all the details from the ISBN number, but that won’t do what I want.
So I output a text file, and uploaded it to Shelfari, and it gaily processed it, and then threw away hundreds of ISBNs, which I am having to do manually – slow and tedious.
*Anyway* – the point of this is that you will find me on Shelfari as (no surprise) ramtops, so if you would like to friend me or whatever they do there, that would be vair nice.
Please note we only have about 1600 books, which I suspect is a very small number to some of you. But we do love and cherish them all.
can *your* husband fit in the cupboard?
No call back from the plumber, so I went and got a flexible drain springy thing from B&Q, and Pete is using it.
Isn’t he limber?
bah
Looks as though the Plumbing Incident requires a professional … Pete has put a jet wash down the pipes, but they’re still blocked.
Now – to find a plumber. Last time we needed one it was a nightmare …
spilling chakras
They’re odd things, really. I just sent a mail from Thunderbird, in which Thunderbird informed me that Thunderbird was an unknown word …
In other news, perlmonger is having to deal with an Unfortunate Plumbing Incident involving the dishwasher.
eating pizza at my desk
Which is a) not very couth, and b) something we haven’t done in ages.
But it’s worth it – photocena.com is now baby’s first WordPress blog, and frankly I’m DEAD CHUFFED with it. So there.
Feel free to subscribe – it will be full of utterly uninteresting nonsense about the Jordans’ culinary habits and adventures.
RIP Humphrey Lyttelton
““As the vanquished charwoman of time begins to Shake n’ Vac the shagpile of eternity, I notice that we have just run out of time.””
Goodbye, Humph – thanks for all the laughs.
Some people long for holidays on the beach
But perlmonger and I would be utterly thrilled to do this cruise around some of our absolutely favourite places.
I took this photograph on our trip to Oban 3 years ago, and I’m bookmarking that site so we can do this cruise in the autumn, cashflow willing.
visitation
Very nice to receive a visitation from gmul last night. He was fed with pork with pears and apricots, and we had a good natter, before he left on his motorised bicycle.
I’ll take this opportunity to remind him that we need BIGGER LOGOS :)
Our village in the news
We drove through Long Ashton yesterday morning at 7.15, to find six or seven police cars in the main road, and a fire engine. We didn’t have time to stop, and there was nothing on the radio news about it.
We drove back through at about 2.30 p.m. Still lots of police cars, two outside broadcast units, and a huge police incident unit in the Co-op car park.
Very sad case – man set fire to his house, then hanged himself, , 6 year old child died :( I know it’s a cliché. but I just wouldn’t expect it to happen *here*.
