the floorboards have been up, as part of the great central heating replacement upheaval. I think the kittens have had the best day of their tiny lives – evidence here.

for reasons known only to himself (he certainly hasn’t shared them with us) our landlord has decreed that this week is the week to replace our central heating system. No matter than there’s an arctic front heading our way, apparently *now* is a really good time to leave us without central heating and hot water, given that the forecast for tonight is -4, and tomorrow -7.

the plumbers are downstairs shaking their heads at the antiquity of the current system, which doesn’t bode very well. When might they finish? – “it’s very difficult to say”. The landlord has brought some electric fan heaters, but they give me a ferocious headache ..

so think of us, and send warm blankets and hot soup, please.
