Margaret Attwood

as well as writing stonking books, as well as writing stonking books, the Canadian author has also penned a fine piece entitled A letter to America.

p.s. who’s stolen all my bandwidth? The net is like treacle this afternoon …

it could just catch on …

fuelled by our absolute determination to spend less time sitting in front of computers at the weekends, perlmonger and I sallied up to the gym at about 11.30 for a decent workout.

then we had lunch at the country club, sitting outside in the sun with the Sunday papers (it’s ridiculously warm for March, fergawdsakes), then took a drive across the Mendips and stopped in at the Blagden water garden centre to buy some food for the pond fish. We also managed to buy a water lily, two irii and a fritillaria, but then that’s what we do, really. We’re not fit to be let out …

back by a different route across the Mendips, incorporating the wonderful run up Burrington Coombe – although the Moose is not really the ideal vehicle for that journey. Altogether a cracking Sunday,

and in other news, my favourite comfortable trousers are now too big, which is pretty impressive after only 2 weeks, really. Just checked my diary, to find that I have done either swimming, yoga or gym (and occasionally two out of three) for thirteen days out of the last fourteen. Go me!

an open letter to Congressman Issa

getting better all the time

perlmonger and I sallied forth last night to see Richard Thompson in Bristol – probably the best set I’ve ever seen him play, and I’ve seen a few.

opened with a stonking version of Tear Stained Letter, then worked variously through most of the new album, together with some old favourites, including Bright Lights, a beautiful rendition of Vincent Black Lightning, Crawl Back and many more. Just over two hours of wonderful, wonderful music, with Danny Thompson on bass (it wouldn’t really be the same without him :) Glorious stuff.

fonts

I’ve just Switched, and I wonder if there is a utility to take Windows TrueType fonts and convert them to OSX type fonts.

well, I’ve done it

magrat, my XP machine, has been banished to the back room, and weatherwax (the G4) now has my two TFT monitors, and my amp and speakers, all plugged in. I’ve Switched.

in other news, did my first yoga lesson last night. I’m afraid I can’t be doing with the inner Chi nonsense – send smiling energy to your toes? Oh dear. But I quite enjoyed it apart from that, and I’ve booked another couple of lessons.
